About the Role

A senior attorney will lead and grow the bankruptcy and restructuring practice at a boutique law firm. The role combines an established portable practice with work for the firm's clients, including investment funds navigating troubled portfolio companies.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice and help develop its client work.

  • Advise investment funds on debt-side restructurings and workouts involving portfolio companies.

  • Handle both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.

  • Manage approximately 300 to 400 hours annually of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice.

  • Mentor and direct a junior associate, and collaborate with colleagues serving existing firm clients.

What We're Looking For

  • 10 to 25 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor matters.

  • A portable bankruptcy and restructuring practice with approximately $1 million to $1.5 million in annual collections, plus a track record of originating and managing client relationships.

  • Substantial experience in both in-court bankruptcy and out-of-court workouts, including corporate restructuring and debt-side advisory work.

  • A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.

  • Experience advising investment funds on troubled portfolio companies is valued; prior large-firm experience is preferred.

  • Entrepreneurial approach, collaborative working style, and interest in growing a practice in a boutique setting.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $250,000 to $300,000 annually. The role offers a path to equity partnership and compensation upside. Visa sponsorship is not available.
