Senior Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in India.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the modernization, security, and development of scalable web applications. You will initially focus on maintaining and upgrading Drupal-based platforms, ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, and security. As modernization priorities progress, you will expand your responsibilities into C#/.NET backend development and full-stack engineering initiatives. Working alongside experienced engineers across international teams, you will take ownership of complex technical challenges and contribute to impactful product improvements. You will also leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging LLM technologies to enhance engineering productivity and build intelligent product features. This role offers an opportunity to work across established platforms and modern technologies in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.

Lead the maintenance, modernization, and ongoing support of Drupal-based platforms, including version upgrades, security patches, troubleshooting, and performance improvements. Design, develop, and scale backend services using C#, .NET Core, RESTful APIs, and service-oriented or event-driven architectures. Build and enhance modern frontend applications using React, Redux, TypeScript, and JavaScript. Develop reliable, high-performance web applications capable of supporting high-traffic environments and large-scale data processing. Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, and GitHub Copilot to improve coding, debugging, testing, and engineering efficiency. Develop AI agents using modern large language models (LLMs) and contribute to AI/ML-powered product features. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while contributing to incident response, system resilience, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial discovery to launch. Establish and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices to ensure software quality and reliability. Participate in technical and architectural reviews, share knowledge with engineering colleagues, and promote clean code and engineering best practices.

Requirements:

At least 6 years of professional web development experience, with strong expertise in Drupal, PHP, C#, .NET Core, REST APIs, and service-oriented or event-driven architectures. Minimum 2 years of hands-on Drupal experience, including platform maintenance, troubleshooting, database management, and version upgrades. At least 2 years of professional PHP development experience, preferably involving Drupal customization, module development, and maintenance. Practical experience using AI and LLM-powered tools for software development activities, including coding, debugging, testing, code interpretation, analysis, and documentation. Strong background in designing and developing complex web applications, high-volume systems, and solutions involving large-scale data processing. Solid understanding of software architecture patterns, scalable system design, clean coding principles, and maintainable web services. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with the ability to independently manage technical deliverables from investigation through implementation and testing. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams. Ability to manage competing priorities, take ownership of technical challenges, and adapt to evolving project requirements.

Nice to have:

Experience with Drupal 11 upgrades, platform migrations, and custom module development. Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React.js or Angular, with a preference for React. Experience building AI agents and integrating LLM-based capabilities into production applications.
