About the role

The Role

T1 Energy is looking to hire an EHS Manager to develop, implement, and oversee all environmental, health, and safety programs at our G2 solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. This is a leadership role for an experienced EHS professional who can build and maintain a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and work across all departments to identify and eliminate hazards.

The EHS Manager will own our EHS programs end to end, from daily inspections to incident investigation, compliance reporting, and emergency preparedness, working closely with engineering, operations, facilities, and site leadership. Reporting to the EHS Director, the EHS Manager will start in an active construction environment and, as the facility moves into operations, oversee programs for occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, PSM, RMP, and emergency response (fire, medical, hazmat, rope rescue). The EHS Manager will also coach the supervisory team, ensure compliance, and foster a proactive, zero-harm culture.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and develop the EHS Field Supervisor, EHS Program Supervisor, and ERT Supervisor and their teams.

  • Develop and manage EHS programs and policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, NFPA, and DOT requirements, from construction through commissioning and operations, and monitor changes to applicable standards.

  • Direct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to control construction, manufacturing, chemical, and process hazards (e.g., fall protection, electrical, lockout/tagout, confined space); drive corrective actions to closure.

  • Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including exposure assessments, air and noise sampling, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and heat stress.

  • Oversee PSM and RMP activities, including PHAs, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and mechanical integrity (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, EPA 40 CFR 68).

  • Oversee environmental compliance, including hazardous materials, spill response, waste, and permits; prepare regulatory reports (Tier II, TRI, SPCC, stormwater) and coordinate with agencies.

  • Oversee the emergency response operations, ensuring readiness for fire, medical, hazmat, chemical release, and rope rescue emergencies through action plans, drills, equipment maintenance, and incident command.

  • Manage EHS compliance for on-site contractors and vendors.

  • Oversee EHS and emergency response policies, procedures, SOPs, permits, and training materials, working with operations, engineering, and facilities to turn requirements into practical controls and safeguards.

  • Partner with site leaders to reinforce accountability and a zero-harm culture through leading indicators, observations, coaching, and regular EHS meetings and drills.

  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, including document control and internal audits.

  • Maintain accurate EHS records, track KPIs and leading indicators, and report trends to leadership to drive timely completion of improvement plans

Who You Are

  • An experienced EHS professional with a track record in industrial, high-tech manufacturing, or semiconductor environments.

  • Sound judgment and a hands-on, proactive approach to hazard recognition and risk control, with the confidence to address unsafe conditions, potential exposures, and emergencies respectfully and promptly.

  • A natural educator and communicator who makes safety compelling to technicians, engineers, leadership, contractors, regulators, and emergency response partners, and is comfortable presenting to groups and coaching supervisors and specialists.

  • Comfortable with technical detail and regulatory requirements; fluent in OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards.

  • A strong collaborator who influences across functions and shifts and builds buy-in for safety initiatives; able to organize multiple priorities, manage a team of supervisors, maintain detailed EHS and compliance records, and follow issues through resolution.

  • Calm, decisive, and effective under pressure, especially during emergency or incident response, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to hazardous processes and materials.

  • Accountable, with integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Fire Protection, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in industrial, high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor, or photovoltaic operations, including managing EHS programs in a regulated environment and successful regulatory audits (OSHA, EPA, fire marshal).

  • Experience with high-hazard materials (flammable gases, explosive precursors, toxic substances, or equivalent).

  • Prior experience supervising EHS professionals and teams preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA safety and industrial hygiene requirements, exposure limits, EPA/TCEQ regulations, PSM, RMP, NFPA, DOT, emergency response standards, and incident reporting.

  • Experience with hazard recognition, inspections, audits, industrial hygiene sampling, PHAs, emergency response coordination, incident investigations, corrective-action tracking, and employee training.

  • Proficiency with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (or equivalent) and root cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone, TapRooT).

  • Working knowledge of EHS data management systems (e.g., Enablon, VelocityEHS, Intelex).

  • CSP, CIH, OHST, or equivalent certification (or progress toward one) preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and safety system schematics.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); familiarity with AutoCAD or engineering design software is a plus.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, presentation, and leadership skills.

About T1 Energy

At T1 Energy (NYSE: TE), we build energy. We are an American solar manufacturer building the future of energy abundance. From our headquarters in Austin, Texas, we’re pioneering a domestic solar supply chain with one mission: to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy.

We started with G1_Dallas, one of the most advanced solar manufacturing facilities in the world. The 5GW facility is located in Wilmer, Texas. It has the capacity to produce more than 20,000 solar modules a day for solar farms that power American homes, businesses, and keep our energy grids resilient.

Next is G2_Austin: Our new solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. Its first 2.1GW phase is designed to produce next-generation TOPCon cells beginning in 2027. As the fab grows, it’s expected to support up to 1,800 manufacturing jobs. Modules assembled at G1 can run on cells from G2.

What comes after G2? Come join us and help figure that out. And then build it. The sun has always shone on America. Now you can turn it into abundant electricity.

The T1 Way

We’re all in on the mission, and we pursue it as one team. We move fast, own our results, and treat each other with respect. Egos stay at the door: no one is too senior to roll up their sleeves, and no idea is too small to share. Be sharp, be honest, be human. If you can hold the line and keep a sense of humor, you’ll fit right in.
