At least 3 years of experience in engineering management or technical team leadership, including responsibility for developing and managing engineers. Previous hands-on experience as a software engineer or systems engineer, building and operating production-grade systems. Demonstrated ability to lead substantial technical initiatives from initial planning through successful production delivery. Strong understanding of distributed systems and networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and TLS. Experience developing or operating data-intensive systems, such as streaming platforms, ingestion pipelines, message queues, databases, schedulers, and high-throughput APIs. Proven experience managing critical production systems, including monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, performance optimization, and reliability improvements. Strong technical judgment and the ability to contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions, evaluate implementation risks, and support complex incident investigations. Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities, including providing constructive feedback, delegating responsibilities, and supporting engineers across different technical specialties. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to transform broad objectives into structured roadmaps, priorities, milestones, and measurable outcomes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with multidisciplinary teams and translating technical challenges into clear decisions. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Ability to balance competing priorities involving delivery speed, technical quality, infrastructure costs, operational risks, and customer impact. A proactive, accountable, and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to establish direction while empowering engineers to make independent decisions.Additional assets that would be an advantage:
