Digital Hands is an innovative Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) with a mission to protect customer data and make technology available, productive and secure with the strongest talent in the cyber industry. Members of the Digital Hands Team work with leading technologies and protect a dynamic set of enterprise-class customers including best-known brands in the hospitality, financial, manufacturing and communications industries. Digital Hands employees enjoy competitive compensation and benefits, training opportunities, personal skills development, and opportunities for professional advancement across the organization.
Digital Hands is comprised of innovators leading from the front, fueled by a desire to achieve, test new boundaries, and a determination to do whatever it takes to get there first every time. Ideal candidates believe in the mission and vision of the company and have a genuine love for what they do. At Digital Hands, we take ownership, obsess over our promises, anticipate our customers' needs. and get ahead of every threat so that our customers can focus on their business with the peace of mind that only comes from knowing their cyberworld is secure.
Digital Hands is looking for an Associate DevOps Engineer to build, deploy, maintain and improve the applications, cloud services, integrations and automation our Security Operations Center (SOC) runs on. You’ll write code, ship it to the cloud, connect systems through APIs and databases, and support and extend ServiceNow, working side by side with DevOps engineers, ServiceNow administrators and SOC team members.
This is a full-time, onsite role based at Digital Hands Headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
What You’d Actually Be Doing
Writing code that runs the operation. You’ll write, test, debug and maintain scripts, services, integrations and automation in Python, JavaScript or similar languages. If someone is doing the same task by hand every day, you’re the person who makes that stop.
Shipping to the cloud. You’ll deploy and maintain applications in AWS, GCP or similar environments, using cloud-native and serverless services where they make sense, and learn how those applications are operated, monitored and improved once they’re live.
Connecting systems and data. You’ll work with REST APIs, event-driven services, queues, and relational and non-relational databases to tie platforms together and keep operational workflows moving.
Making delivery better. You’ll contribute to source control, code review, testing, release processes, monitoring, documentation and infrastructure-as-code practices, so what we ship is easier to trust and easier to maintain.
Finding root causes, not just symptoms. When an application, integration, platform or cloud service misbehaves, you’ll investigate, find out why, and put in a durable fix that improves performance and reliability.
Supporting and extending ServiceNow. You’ll administer and configure users, groups, roles, permissions, forms, notifications, reports, dashboards and workflows, and support ServiceNow integrations and automation, including Flow Designer, as part of the broader DevOps environment.
Partnering with the SOC. You’ll work with DevOps and SOC teams to improve the applications, integrations and workflows used to deliver cybersecurity services to our customers.
Writing it down and making it simpler. You’ll maintain technical documentation, procedures, configuration records and knowledge articles, and keep an eye out for processes that could be simplified or automated.
What Makes This Exciting and Interesting
This is an early-career role with a wide surface area. In the same week you might be a developer, a cloud engineer, an integration troubleshooter and a ServiceNow administrator. ServiceNow is a secondary part of the job, but an important one, and you’ll need to support and extend it while you keep growing your broader DevOps and development skills.
You’ll also be getting up to speed in an unfamiliar codebase and technical environment, inside a fast-paced MSSP where the systems you touch are the ones the SOC depends on to serve customers. That’s a lot to learn, and it’s exactly why it’s a strong place to build a foundation in DevOps engineering.
How We Work
We use AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and Cursor to write, debug and refactor code, and we expect the judgment to review and validate what they produce. We give and receive code review feedback openly. We’d rather fix something durably once than patch it three times, and we’re always looking for the next manual process to automate.
This Is an Engineering Role, Not a SOC Analyst Role
This position does not perform security monitoring or incident analysis. Your work directly supports the systems and workflows the SOC relies on, but your job is to build, run and improve that technology, not to work the alerts.
What You Bring
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, or another scripting or programming language through professional work, internships, coursework or personal projects
- Experience deploying an application or service to AWS, GCP or a similar cloud environment
- A foundational understanding of software development practices, including source control, testing, debugging, documentation and code review
- Familiarity with APIs, application integrations and common data formats such as JSON
- Foundational ServiceNow experience, including platform administration or configuration, with the ability to support workflows, reports, dashboards, users, roles, permissions and automation
- A self-motivated, analytical approach, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team
Even Better If You Have
- Familiarity with cloud-native services such as API Gateway, S3, SQS or Pub/Sub
- Exposure to serverless services such as AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and non-relational databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB
- Experience using AI coding tools to write, debug and refactor code, with the judgment to validate the output
- Experience building or supporting ServiceNow workflows, Flow Designer automations, integrations or platform configurations
- Solid debugging skills and comfort giving and receiving code review feedback
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Serverless Framework
- Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools used to build, test and deploy applications
- A basic understanding of system design concepts, including component boundaries, interfaces, data flows, reliability and scalability
- Experience with SOC environments and security tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Google SecOps, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne or SOAR platforms
How We’ll Know It’s Working
Within your first few months, you’ll be finding your way around our codebase and cloud environment on your own, shipping fixes and automations the DevOps and SOC teams rely on, and handling day-to-day ServiceNow work without needing a hand.
